France set to ban short haul flights

As part of the B Corp community, we like to share relevant news that represents the things we stand for. Taking responsibility for things like climate change is important to us, which is why we're excited that France is close to announcing a ban on short-haul flights as part of the 2021 climate legislation!

What will this mean for commuters?

Flights will be prohibited on three routes from Paris' secondary airport, Orly, to Bordeaux, Lyon and Nantes. Whilst it may seem like a huge disruption and inconvenience to transport links, France has an excellent rail network! It’s fast, reliable and affordable, plus it means you’ll avoid the tolls on roads when driving.

As for those shorter trips, this is a great opportunity to take to the road on two wheels and experience the wonderful views France has to offer. The French government announced back in August 2022 that those willing to trade in their cars for bikes can be paid up to €4,000 in hopes to encourage more active lifestyles and rising energy prices.
